INFO from "History Of Buck County" by Davis, Vol 3, page 1446
Falls Meeting (records of)
Joseph (Sr) Burges and Hannah Wilson
ch: Joseph Burges (Jr) m Deborah Fisher
ch: Thomas, Sarah, John, Tacy, Martha and Daniel
(usure why this history omits so many of the children)
My guess is Joseph Jr is probably the last child his mother, Hannah had as she would have been about 47 yrs at this time. It appears Joseph Burges Jr's birth date is the only one someone was sure of.
--------------------------
It appear the first 10 children of Joseph Jr & Deborah Fisher Burges were born in Falls twp, Bucks Co, PA. This family were of the Falls Meeting & or Buckingham MM there. Children 11 & 12 were born in Maryland, maybe Baltimore or Deer Creek (Harford County, MD). In the 1850 census of FF twp, HC, OH John & Daniel both list MD as their place of birth which we know is NOT true. Daniel listed PA in the census's of 1860 and 1870 which is correct. 1790 census of Harford County, MD list one Burgess: Jospeh. This household must have included all his sons.
--------------------------
Joseph & Deborah (Fisher) Burges were married at the Buckingham Monthly Meeting, Buck County, PA. Joseph attended the Falls Monthly Meeting as a child and prior to his marriage.
Joseph, Deborah and 10 children left Pennsylvania: An enty from Stony Run Monthly Meeting, on Charles Street (near Belvedere Ave.) Baltimore, MD shows : Joseph Burges & wife, Deborah and ch, Elizabeth, John (Jonathan), Tacy, Jesse, Thomas, Sarah, Martha, Daniel, Letitia, & John on certificate dated 24 April 1775 from Buckingham MM to Gun Powder Monthly Meeting, MD.
They must have attended the Deer Creek Monthly Meeting from this certificate: Martha Burges to Gunpowder MM from Deer Creek 28 Jun 1792.
Sons, Thomas, John and Daniel left Deer Creek MM on a cert. dtd 27 Sep 1792 to South River MM, Campbell Co, VA.
John returned to MD, possibly to marry. He leaves again: John & Drucilla from Deer Creek MM, MD 25 Feb 1798 to South River MM, VA. (If John didn't return to MD the John who left with Thomas & Daniel was their brother Jonathan).
1811, Daniel wrote his mother, Deborah, a letter dated June 1811 and she was still residing in Baltimore, MD. He asked her to come live with him. We assume his father had just died.
1812, Deborah was received Jan 25,1812 at Fairfield MM, Fairfield twp, Highland Co, OH on cert. dated the 12 or 21st of Oct 1811 from South River MM, VA. She must have passed through South River MM. She was 79 yrs old when she made the trip. She was traveling with John and Drucilla as their cert is dated the same as Deborah's.
Most of Joseph & Deborah's children made the trip to Virginia and on to Ohio. Daniel was the first in 1810 on Aug 11th. Heas received 24 Nov 1810 at FFMM, FF twp, HC, OH. His wife Ruth's parents and their children were already in Ohio. Beverly & Anna (Hendricks) Milner settled Ohio in 1808. Highland County History said 1807. Jonathan must have been in OH prior to hismother as in Daniel's letter to her he says that Jonathan will come with me "perhaps to pick her up". Thomas & Elizabeth & 7 children and Asa & Grace Plummer & 5 children certificates both dated 14 Aug 1813 from South River MM, VA and all received at FFMM, HC, OH Oct. 30, 1813. Letishia from South River MM, VA 8 April 1820 to FFMM, OH, rec 26 Aug 1820. Sarah Tompkins left Deercreek MM, MD 17 Oct 1833 to Fall Creek MM, HC, OH received Jan 18, 1834. Mary Burgess came to OH as she married Jesse Johnson in 1816 in Highland Co., Ohio. Eight of Joseph & Deborah's children came to Ohio and 4 didn't. Elizabeth married Richard Webb and they resided in Pennsylvania. Jesse last info has MD. Martha m George Norbury and they reside in Pennsylvania. Tacy died in Baltimore MD.
Concerning the deaths of Joseph and Deborah we can only assume that Joseph Burges Jr died in Virginia prior to or in Jun 1811 close to the age of 78 yrs. Deborah is listed in Vol V (Quaker Records) as died 27 Jun 1822, age near 80. We know it was more near 90 as she was 89 yrs old. Another sourse said they had 13 children. I've only found 12.
